Fresh off the series finale of The Leftovers, Damon Lindelof has entered talks to develop an adaptation of the comic book series Watchmen for HBO.
Interestingly, this will be the network's second attempt at a small screen take on the iconic graphic novel from Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Previously, they had considered doing a Watchmen project in 2014. They even met with Zack Snyder, who directed the movie back in 2009, the following year. However, nothing ever came of that.
Should a deal be reached, Lindelof will be starting on the new show from scratch.
Originally kicked off back in 1985, Watchmen followed a group of crimefighters investigating the murder of one of their own. In the process of their investigation, those characters uncover a conspiracy with enormous implications.
Warner Bros. Television will produce the new series, which will be unrelated to the film.
