With the commercial success of Wonder Woman, it's clear that the world is hungry for more female superheroes. Currently, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have plans for a Wonder Woman sequel, as well as films centered around Batgirl and the Gotham City Sirens.
But, that's just the top of the iceberg.
Speaking with Variety, DC Films co-head Geoff Johns was asked what the future held for more female-led superhero films. While he didn't reveal any specific projects, he assures fans that Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have plenty in the pipeline for their female heroes and villains.
"We’ve got a lot of plans for our female characters just because they’re great characters. There are many wonderful elements to the DC Universe, and one of them is that we have the best female characters, heroes and villains, in the world. No one is going to beat Wonder Woman and Batgirl and Harley Quinn."
Currently, fans can check out Wonder Woman on the big screen. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, the film enjoys a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is quickly closing in on $600-Million worldwide.
