New Spider-Man Poised For $100-Million Opening

The first tracking numbers for Spider-Man: Homecoming are here, and it looks as though the highly anticipated Jon Watts flick is currently on track to open with somewhere between $90-$108-Million domestically.

That's quite close to the $114.8-Million earned by Sam Raimi's Spider-Man during its opening weekend back in 2002. It's also a rather big improvement on Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man, which opened to $62-Million during its three day opening weekend.

The new film stars Tom Holland as the famed Marvel wall-crawler, back to reprise the role he first took up last summer for Joe and Anthony Russo's Captain America: Civil War. Robert Downey Jr. returns to the role of Tony Stark, joined by Marisa Tomei as May Parker and former Batman actor Michael Keaton as the villainous Vulture.

Will you be seeing Spider-Man: Homecoming next month?

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, and Logan Marshall-Green, Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theatres on July 7, 2017.
