Speaking with Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures President and Chief Content Officer Toby Emmerich confirmed that director Patty Jenkins "is already working on" a sequel to Wonder Woman.
While he wouldn't give too much more away, he did mention that the sequel will have a different setting from the first one. "It will take place somewhere between 1917 and 2017," he said.
DC Films co-head Geoff Johns adds, "Patty and I are writing the treatment right now. The goal is to make another great “Wonder Woman” film. I had a blast making it with Patty the first time. We’ve got a cool idea for the second one."
So, at this point, we know that Jenkins is back to co-write the script for the Wonder Woman sequel, although there is still no word on whether or not she'll be directing it. However, given her enthusiasm over the prospect of returning to direct another Amazonian Adventure, we're guessing it's only a matter of time before an official announcement is made - perhaps at San Diego Comic Con.
Wonder Woman currently enjoys a 92% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has grossed $573-Million worldwide to date.
