The box office belongs to the Bots!
Transformers: The Last Knight brought in $69.1-Million from 4,069 theatrical locations - a franchise low, but enough to send it to the top of the box office.
However, there is some light at the end of this dark tunnel as the fifth installment of the multi billion dollar franchise destroyed its competition overseas ad brought in an incredible $196.2-Million from its first 40 foreign markets. Shockingly, $123.4-Million of that came out of China alone.
"The movie was conceived of for a global audience and it performed for a global audience. You aren’t making the movie with just the U.S. in mind," said Paramount president of marketing and distribution Megan Colligan.
Adding up the numbers, Transformers: The Last Knight currently sits at $265.3-Million worldwide. The movie's performance continues the trend set by Transformers: Age Of Extinction, which did far more business internationally, becoming the first Transformers film to clear $1-Billion in 2014.
Starring Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Laura Haddock, Jerrod Carmichael, and Anthony Hopkins, Transformers: The Last Knight s playing in theatres now.
