Oscar winner Mahershala Ali and Brian Tyree Henry have joined the cast of the animated Spider-Man movie over at Sony. The pair join a cast that already includes the likes of Shameik Moore, voicing the character of Miles Morales, and Liev Schreiber.
Henry will take on the role of Jefferson Davis, the father of Miles Morales. The character is known for having a rather shady past, but went clean after he started a family. Luke Cage alum Ali will voice his brother and Miles’ uncle Aaron Davis. Avid fans will recall that Davis was also the villain The Prowler in the pages of Marvel Comics.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, Miles Morales is a half-black, half-Latino teenager who adopts the mantle of Spider-Man after the Peter Parker of his earth dies.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who recently exited the Han Solo spinoff over at Lucasfilm, are writing and producing the animated Spider-Man film, which is being directed by Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsey. The animated adventure hits theatres on December 21st, 2018.
