Last night, opening weekend box office numbers for Wonder Woman were released. At the time, it was reported that the latest DC Film had crushed its opening weekend with $223-Million worldwide - the largest opening in box office history for a female directed film.
Well, new info has come to light that pushes that total even higher!
The final numbers are in and Wonder Woman actually took in $103.2-Million from over 4,100 North American theatrical locations this weekend and $125-Million from overseas. Interestingly enough, the opening weekend overseas total comes ahead of the movie's release in such major foreign markets as France and Germany. The movie opened in 55 different overseas markets this weekend, including the likes of China, Korea, Mexico and Brazil.
Wonder Woman generated a bigger overseas opening than the likes of the first two Thor and Iron Man movies, as well as both of the Guardians Of The Galaxy films. Additionally, these new numbers now put the Patty Jenkins film on par with Fox's Deadpool.
Not too shabby, if you ask us!
The film is expected to remain #1 at the box office for its second weekend.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman arrives in theatres now.
