When Matt Reeves took over as director on The Batman earlier this year, many fans assumed some changes were in the works for the original vision of the film. Then, when Reeves announced that he was starting over on the film's script, many couldn't help but wonder what this meant for Joe Manganiello and his part as the villainous Deathstroke.
Will Batfleck still find himself pitted against the master assassin when The Batman finally hits the big screen? Well, Joe Manganiello knows, but he really can't talk about it right now.
Here's what the actor had to say in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter...
I think a lot of people are wondering what the status of Deathstroke is in the next Batman movie now that Ben Affleck is off the project as director. Do you have any information about that?
I don’t. Well, I do but nothing that I can share. I know everything but I can’t say any of it.
Was that imparted in a happy way or a downtrodden way? I’m trying to interpret the fluctuations in your tone.
[Pause.] I’m shooting for a neutral tone.
Any idea when we’ll find out?
It’s not up to me. That’s a good question for Warner Bros. and D.C.
Now, while several have been quick to assume that Manganiello will no longer be playing a part in the highly anticipated DCEU solo flick, keep in mind that actors are allowed to share if they've been let go on projects. However, the fact that he's not able to share any information regarding his role in the film has us convinced that he's still involved - even if it's in a reduced capacity to what Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns originally had planned for the character.
Either way, there are still a few more DC Films slated for release ahead of The Batman, so until something is officially announced, all we can really do is wait and see.
