Ever since it was announced Matt Reeves had replaced Ben Affleck as director on The Batman, many fans wondered whether the film would still use the script from Affleck and Geoff Johns.
Well, now we know.
Reeves was recently a guest on the MTV Happy Sad Confused podcast and host Josh Horowitz asked if he was going to be working off of the original script penned by Johns and Affleck.
"No," Reeves replied. "It’s a new story. It’s just starting again. I’m excited about it. I think it’s going to be really cool."
While this doesn't come as that big a surprise to us, we can't help but wonder what this could mean for Joe Manganiello, who was set to play the villainous Deathstroke in the original story.
Late last month, Reeves revealed that he was hoping to explore a more noir version of the Caped Crusader, something set to really connect audiences with what's going on in Bruce's head.
Reeves also admitted that he informed Warner Bros. that he was in need of a break after working on War For The Planet Of The Apes for the last three years. You can listen to the entire podcast posted here, with The Batman talk beginning at the 30:00 mark.
