Stargate: Origins Digital Series Announced

Are you ready to re-enter the Stargate?

A new version of the popular franchise is officially in the works! Entitled Stargate: Origins, the 10-episode series will tell the story of Catherine Langford, daughter of archaeologist Paul Langford, who discovered the ancient portal back in the 1994 film that started it all.

Stargate: Origins will be available via MGM’s new streaming service, titled Stargate Command, which will be available this fall. Mark Ilvedson and Justin Michael Terry will write the new show, which will be directed by Mercedes Bryce Morgan.

Stargate Command will have both free and paid elements, and MGM is expected to release more info about the platform in the coming weeks.

The franchise kicked off with the original film directed by Roland Emmerich. It would than go on to wrack up an astonishing 380 episodes across almost 20 seasons of TV with shows including Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis, and Stargate: Universe.

The announcement was made during San Diego Comic Con, where fans from across the globe gathered to celebrate the 20th anniversary of  Stargate: SG-1.
