Late last month, shockwaves were sent through Hollywood after it was announced that directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord had exited the upcoming Han Solo movie following creative differences with the studio. Days after, Lucasfilm revealed that Ron Howard had been selected to replace them. Many were in dismay following the shake-up, but not Woody Harrelson.
The War For The Planet Of The Apes actor, who has also appeared in The Hunger Games films and the two Now You See Me films, is set to portray a mentor to a young Han Solo in the upcoming spinoff. He recently sat down with Uproxx and expressed nothing but confidence in the film's new director and his direction for the project.
"Oh, you can relax, man — because obviously the Force is with us," Harrelson said, before bursting into laughter. "Ron is great. He’s awesome. He’s such a gentleman and so prepared."
The actor also took time to praise Lord and Miller. "I loved Chris and Phil. But I think we did land in very capable hands."
And we're inclined to agree with you, Mr. Harrelson!
Honestly, if there is anyone who can get the ball rolling again following the departure of Miller and Lord, it's Ron Howard. He's proven to be a more than capable director in the past, and someone who will undoubtedly provide a much needed calming presence on set of the film.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the untitled Han Solo film opens May 25th, 2018.
