Two Female Directors Join X-Files Season 11

Fox has hired two female directors for the upcoming 11th season of The X-Files.

Firstly, there's Carol Banker. She has a long history with the franchise, having served as script supervisor on the show from 1999 to 2002 and as a director on the short-lived spinoff series The Lone Gunmen.  The second addition comes in the form of franchise newbie Holly Dale, who has directed over 100 hours worth of episodic TV on such shows as  Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Grimm, Timeless and Reign among others.

The duo's hiring comes shortly after word broke that all 10 episodes of the revival series would all be written by men. This caused a major social media backlash, with leading lady Gillian Anderson even joining in. "Two out of 207 [episodes were directed] by women," the X-Files star wrote. "I too look forward to the day when the numbers are different."

And it looks like things are finally taking a step in the right direction.

Interestingly, in a recent update, Fox has revealed that series creator Chris Carter has since added two women to the writing staff on the show as well.

The X-Files returns to the small screen in 2018.
