Spider-Man: Homecoming Earns $874-Million Worldwide

The 2017 box office has had its fair share of duds this year, but superhero movies continue to generate big bucks and gets butts into theater seats. Logan, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, and Wonder Woman have all been huge success this year, but it's Marvel's wall-crawler who has earned the title of the Highest Grossing Superhero Film Of 2017 - to date.

Released on July 7th, 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming follows Tom Holland as the latest incarnation of the famed web head, who squares off against the villainous Vulture - with some help from Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark.

To date, the Jon Watts film has grossed $331-Million domestically which, when added to the massive $542-Million take from overseas, puts the film at a very healthy $874-Million worldwide.

Now, as we mentioned above, Spider-Man: Homecoming is the highest grossing superhero film at the 2017 box office to date. Before the year closes, two massive juggernauts will be hitting the big screen in the form of Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League respectively. Both films are poised to be big box office earners, so it's possible Spider-Man: Homecoming could be dethroned by year's end.

Until then, Spidey currently sits pretty at the top of the box office - and that's alright!

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.

Starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Logan Marshall-Green, and Robert Downey Jr., Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theatres now.
