Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison has voiced an interest in playing the animated character Captain Rex in the live-action Star Wars Universe. Aside from portraying Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones, Morrison has also leant his voice to many of the bounty Hunter's lookalikes. He voiced Boba Fett in the 2004 DVD re-release of the original Star Wars trilogy, Boss in the video game Star Wars: Republic Commando, and countless Clone Troopers in Star Wars: Battlefront.
Captain Rex first debuted in the fan-favorite Star Wars: The Clone Wars, before moving on to a role in Star Wars Rebels on Disney XD. Rex has become a staple of the animated Star Wars Universe, plus a much-loved character by fans - especially after it was revealed that he refused to turn on the Jedi when Order 66 was executed during the events of Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith.
Sine those days, Rex has become a valuable asset to the crew of the Ghost and the men and women of the Rebel Alliance as they look to topple the evil Galactic Empire.
Sitting down with the official Star Wars website, Morrison revealed his interest in returning to the iconic franchise saying, "They’re all in my Jango Fett line – I have clones lining up. Then, of course, there’s Captain Rex, who’s an iconic character. I’ve also voiced various games. What’ll make me really happy is if I get the phone call asking me to play another character – an older Captain Rex or something. I want to pop in on one of these new ones, that would be great. Suggest it to them for me! Let’s get on to it!"
While this is very exciting to hear, there are currently no plans in place for a live-action Star Wars movie set during the time of Star Wars Rebels. Although, rumor has it that a spinoff centering on Jango's son, the notorious Boba Fett, is in the works. If that's the case, we're betting that is Morrison's ticket back into the live-action Star Wars Universe.
