Jenny Slate has entered negotiations to join the upcoming Venom film over at Sony.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, the movie also stars Tom Hardy as the titular character, alongside Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed. While specifics surrounding Slate's character have not been released, it is known that she will be playing a scientist in the film.
Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the movie, along with Amy Pascal.
Since his creation back in 1988, the alien symbiote Venom has been one of Spider-Man's most popular villains. This will mark the second time that the character has appeared on the big screen - the first time being in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, where he was portrayed by Topher Grace.
Venom will arrive in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
Slate voiced Harley Quinn in The LEGO Batman Movie earlier this year, and recently wrapped work on The Secret Life of Pets 2 for Illumination.
