A few weeks back, it was announced that J.J. Abrams would be returning to the Star Wars Universe. The man behind The Force Awakens would take over directing duties on the still unnamed Episode IX following the departure of Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow.
Understandably, the cast of the film is excited to be working with Abrams once again, but none more than actor John Boyega. Known for portraying the renegade Stormtrooper Finn, Boyega has always praised his experience working with Abrams on The Force Awakens. So, one can imagine he's happy to be working with the director once again.
While out promoting his newest film, Detroit, Boyega was asked about his thoughts regarding the return of J.J. Abrams to the Star Wars Universe.
"Yeah, I’m really happy [and] really excited. I actually sent him an email and asked him if the real reason is because he misses me. And I think that’s what it is – that’s the only reason why he came back, and I appreciate that."
You can listen to Boyega's comments in the video posted below...
Before reuniting with Abrams however, fans can next see Boyega in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Directed by Rian Johnson, the film also stars Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, and Laura Dern. The highly anticipated sequel arrives on December 15th.
