Dynamite brings Sheena: Queen Of The Jungle back to newsstands this month with a brand new issue that sees the titular heroine finally catching up with her quarry.
Or, so she thinks.
Still in search of the missing surveyor, Sheena crosses paths with a university student named Marciano who is also on the trail of the missing man. Of course, the pair do not trust each other at first, especially once Sheena learns that Marciano is the man responsible for flying the mysterious drones throughout her jungle home. However, they eventually come to an amicable agreement and join up in an effort to find the missing surveyor. Yet, Marciano soon discovers that trekking through Vale Verde is no easy task. Coming across poisonous plants and vicious jaguars, the university student soon learns that the jungle holds many secrets - including some regarding his new friend. Sheena steps in and saves Marciano more than once during their journey, and he soon realizes that she's quite the valuable asset to have around.
As their journey continues, Sheena learns that Marciano has been on a mission to bring down the Cadwell organization for quite some time - looking to expose the corporation to the world as the monsters that they really are. Sheena eventually learns that her people were not the first to be persecuted by the company and its army of armed goons, but vows to make them the last.
Continuing on their trek through the Amazonian jungle, Sheena and Marciano break through the foliage and happen upon some ancient and mysterious ruins. Imposing and magnificent, these ruins are unlike anything the duo has ever seen - however, while it may seem as though they've finally reached a safe haven from the dangers of Val Verde, a new and deadly threat rears its ugly head in an exciting cliff-hanger ending that will surely have you left wanting more.
Sheena: Queen Of The Jungle #2 is another strong entry in the series. The dangers of Val Verde make themselves known on more than one occasion throughout this issue, adding a sense of urgency throughout as our heroine continues her search for the missing surveyor.
The art continues to be top notch, and the story is, as always, engaging, exciting and enjoyable.
In short, Sheena: Queen Of The Jungle #2 is another win for Dynamite Entertainment, and we're once again eagerly awaiting the arrival of the next issue on newsstands.
Rating: 4/5 - "The Dangers of Val Verde are ever present throughout this new issue, adding a welcome sense of danger and urgency to this already exciting series."
