Prolific director Quentin Tarantino is boldly planning to go where no one has gone before.
Sources claim the director has come up with a great idea for a Star Trek film over at Paramount. Additionally, after sharing said idea with J.J. Abrams, the studio is said to be putting together a writers room to hear Tarantino's plan and begin making it a reality.
Should everything work out, Tarantino could direct, while Abrams may produce.
The duo are said to be waiting on a solid script before commenting further. The pitch is still in the early days of development, but the franchise is a high priority for Paramount.
Previously, Abrams has directed two films in the recently rebooted Star Trek franchise featuring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. He has since moved on to direct a few Star Wars films over a Disney beginning with The Force Awakens in 2015. Tarantino is openly a huge fan of the franchise, having referenced Star Trek in his past films numerous times over the years.
Paramount Pictures had no comment on the story.
