Earlier this week, word broke that Quentin Tarantino was looking to helm a Star Trek movie over at Paramount Pictures. Now, it looks as though the project is a go with Tarantino looking to make this newest trip into the final frontier an R-rated adventure.
Word has it that the director has already began meeting with writers like Mark L. Smith, Lindsey Beer, and Drew Pearce. Additionally, the director has stipulated that his movie be restricted in nature, and both the studio and J.J. Abrams have agreed to this condition.
This is an interesting move, given that most mega budget tent poles restrict the film to a PG-13 rating in an effort to maximize the audience. However, given that Tarantino has helmed R-rated movies his entire career, this should really come as no surprise to fans.
Still, we can't help but wonder what possible story lanes a restricted Star Trek film will open.
Expect the studio to lock down a writer for the project soon.
