James Cameron Returning For New Terminator Movie

Well this is exciting!

Deadline is reporting that James Cameron is teaming up with Tim Miller and David Ellison of Skydance for a brand new Terminator movie. Cameron, who regains the franchise rights in 2019, is said to be godfathering the new film.

Ellison is said to be bankrolling an exploratory effort that includes engaging some top-flight science fiction authors to find the movie creatively. Ellison still holds many Terminator rights, after his 2013 acquisition from sister and Annapurna principal Megan Ellison. She bought them in 2011 at Cannes for $20-Million.

Cameron sold the rights to the original film for $1 to producer Gale Anne Hurd, with the agreement that Cameron would be allowed to direct The Terminator, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger. That movie went on to gross $78.4-Million worldwide, and was later eclipsed by Cameron’s highly-acclaimed sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which grossed $519.8-Million worldwide.
Several more Terminator movies have been made since, but all have fallen short since Cameron stepped away from the franchise. Tim Miller will direct the new movie, as Cameron will be busy with the next four Avatar sequels. The site also adds that it is currently unknown if the new movie will reboot the series or serve as a continuation of Cameron's first two movies.
Either way, we're really excited by this news. If there is anyone capable of fixing the Terminator franchise, it's James Cameron.

Check Out The Shortlist For Green Lantern Corps

It looks as though DC Entertainment has their sights set on six actors being considered for the role of Hal Jordan in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Green Lantern Corps. The Wrap has learned that the multimedia juggernaut is looking at the likes of Tom Cruise, Joel McHale, Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds, Armie Hammer, and Jake Gyllenhaal as possible candidates for the part.

However, casting process is still in the very early stages, and there are no talks with any of the actors as of yet. Apparently, DC is considering if Ryan Reynolds, who portrayed Jordan in the poorly received Green Lantern film in 2011, should return to the role.

Cruise seems an interesting choice given that he has never portrayed a superhero before. However, he has proven he has what it takes to anchor a big-budget film franchise thanks to his roles in the Mission Impossible and Jack Reacher films.

Gyllenhaal is a longtime fan favorite for the role, and has defended superhero films time and again, referring to them as inspiring, moving and important.

Armie Hammer has been trolling fans about taking up the role over Twitter lately, including an interesting interaction with fellow actor Joe Manganiello, who will play Deathstroke in Ben Affleck’s highly anticipated  Batman film.

Needless to say, these are all very interesting choices.

Green Lantern Corps is being penned by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes. Goyer will also produce, while DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will executive produce.

The studio had no comment.

Who would you like to see take the role of Hal Jordan in the DCEU?

Sony Confirms Miles Morales For Animated Spider-Man

Ever since it was announced that Sony Pictures Animation were planning an animated Spider-Man movie, speculation arose that the feature would focus on Miles Morales instead of the more widely known Peter Parker. Now, we have confirmation that this is indeed the case thanks to SPA president Kristine Belton, who made the official announcement at an SPA slate presentation earlier this week.

Phil Lord is writing the movie and serving as a producer on the project alongside his Lego Movie co-director Chris Miller. "What inspired us the most is that anyone can wear the mask. You can be any race, creed or color," said Lord and Miller via a pre-recorded video at the presentation.

The pair would then introduce a video clip featuring some early development and exploratory art work from the upcoming animated feature. Also featured were images of Spider-Man on the streets of New York done in the dark mood and style of a graphic novel.

Bob Persichetti is set to co-direct alongside Peter Ramsey, while Avi Arad and Sony's Amy Pascal will executive produce. Christina Steinberg will serve as acting producer.

Miles Morales was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli. First introduced in 2011 as part of the Ultimate Marvel imprint, he would take up the mantle of Spider-Man following the death of that universe's Peter Parker. Although the title ended in 2015, Morales was made a character in the mainstream Marvel Universe, beginning with the All-New, All-Different Marvel banner.

The character can also be seen in animated form on Ultimate Spider-Man, where he is voiced by Community alum Donald Glover.

Look for this all-new animated Spider-Man movie to arrive on December 21, 2018.

Prolific Actor Miguel Ferrer Has Passed Away

Actor Miguel Ferrer, known for roles in NCIS: Los Angeles and Robocop, has passed away following a battle with cancer today at the age of 61.

Most recently, Ferrer was co-starring as Owen Granger on NCIS: Los Angeles, a show that he'd been part of since 2012. Additionally, earlier today it was announced that he would be lending his voice to the role of Deathstroke in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, an upcoming DC Animated Original Movie set for release later this year. Due to the early production of animation, his part was recorded several months ago - making it one of his final roles.

This was far from his first role within the DC Universe. Ferrer voiced the likes of Aquaman and Weather Wizard in Superman: The Animated Series, Sinestro in The Batman and J'onn J'onzz in the DC Animated Original Movie Justice League: The New Frontier in 2008. He also voiced the immortal Vandal Savage in the hugely popular Young Justice on Cartoon Network, which was renewed for a third season late last year.

On the live-action side of things, Ferrer's breakout role came as FBI Agent Albert Rosenfield in Twin Peaks. He also starred for six years in Crossing Jordan in the early 2000s, and even had a guest appearance in Iron Man 3 from Shane Black.

Ferrer is survived by his wife Lori and sons Lukas and Rafi.

Our thoughts are with the Ferrer family during this difficult time.

Black Adam To Get His Own Solo DCEU Film

New Line and DC Entertainment have decided to double down on Shazam.

Alongside the upcoming film centered around the famed DC Comics hero, it has been announced today that New Line will also develop a movie centering on Black Adam, with Dwayne Johnson attached to star as the popular comic book villain.

The move stems from a high-level meeting with Johnson and DC Films co-head and comics author Geoff Johns. On a deeper level, said meeting led to a reconfiguration of the Shazam movie. Dwayne Johnson has been attached to the role of Black Adam since 2008, becoming one of the biggest action stars on the planet in the years that followed. To execs, it made no sense to have a man of Johnson’s stature be just a villain and a supporting character in an expensive tentpole. Thus a decision was made to spin Black Adam off into his very own film.

No writer or filmmaker is attached to Black Adam at this time, but the character will be presented as an anti-hero on the big screen, mirroring recent stories within DC Comics where the character was fighting against enemies who sought to enslave his people.

Are you excited to see Dwayne Johnson get his own DC Extended Universe movie?

Two More Join The Judas Contract Animated Movie

Christina Ricci and Miguel Ferrer have joined the cast of Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, the long-awaited DC Universe animated original movie from Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment.

Longtime DC favorite Jay Oliva is directing the animated feature, which adapts the classic storyline from Tales of the Teen Titans, which was one of the top titles during the 1980's. Ricci will play Teen Titans member Terra, while Ferrer will  voice the iconic DC mercenary Deathstroke.

Sean Maher, Kari Wahlgren, Jake T. Austin, Taissa Farmiga, Brandon Soo Hoo and Stuart Allan will also be returning to the DC Animated Original Movie Universe with this latest project.

Veteran comic author J.M. DeMatteis and Ernie Altbacker wrote the story.

The Judas Contract was originally helmed by writer Marv Wolfman and penciller George Perez. The story sees the Teen Titans dealing with the betrayal of fellow teammate Terra, who teams up with Deathstroke to take down the team of young heroes once and for all.

The Teen Titans have seen a surge in popularity over the years, thanks to Teen Titans Go, the top show on Cartoon Network. Likewise, thanks to appearances on Young Justice and Arrow, Deathstroke has also seen a notable rise in fame. The character will soon be seen in The Batman from director Ben Affleck, which will officially introduce the mercenary to the ever-growing DC Extended Universe which began back in 2013 with Man Of Steel.

Sam Register is executive producing the animated movie. Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan are co-executive producers, while James Tucker will serve as supervising producer.
