Teri Hatcher Joins Supergirl In Mystery Role

From Dean Cain to Helen Slater, Supergirl has featured its fair share of DC Comics alumni. Now, one more will be joining the cast in the form of actress Teri Hatcher.

Known for playing Lois Lane in the classic 90's ABC series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman, Hatcher is set to appear in multiple episodes of the hit DC Entertainment series and, while character details are scarce at this time, she'll eventually emerge as the season's big bad.

“No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. “To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, [EP] Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”

We're inclined to agree with you, Mr. Kreisberg.

Hatcher is also known for roles in The Odd Couple, Desperate Housewives, and Seinfeld.

Expect more details soon!

James Cameron Says Terminator Still Relevant

A few days ago, word came that James Cameron was teaming up with Deadpool director Tim Miller to bring a brand new Terminator movie to life.

Speaking with The Daily Beast, the visionary director said that, even though the franchise track record hasn't been the best since his departure, he feels that the core idea behind the series is still relevant and ripe for further mining.

"Its really just stumbled along, trying to find its voice again. There’s probably some degree to where it’s lost relevance, you know? Maybe the things that made it good back then are kind of a yawn now. It’s easy to remember fondly the things that kick off a franchise. It’s hard to keep a franchise vigorous, and relevant."

"I haven’t had my hand on the tiller since ‘Terminator 2,’ and that was 1991. So what’s that? Twenty-six years? But look, I think it’s possible to tell a great ‘Terminator’ story now, and it’s relevant."

"We live in a digital age, and ‘Terminator’ ultimately, if you can slow it down, is about our relationship with our own technology, and how our technology can reflect back to us – and in the movie, literally, in a human form that is a nemesis and a threat."

"But also in those movies, in the two that I did, it’s about how we dehumanize ourselves. In a time when people are being absorbed by their virtual-social world, I mean, just look around. I always say: if ‘Terminator’ was about the war between the humans and the machines, look around any restaurant or airport lounge and tell me the machines haven’t won when every human you see is enslaved to their device. So could you make a relevant ‘Terminator’ film now? Absolutely."

Three additional Terminator films have been made since Cameron exited the franchise - all three of which went on to become critical and financial disappointments.

There is currently no word on when production will begin on the next Terminator film.

Ben Affleck Will Not Direct The Batman

Ben Affleck has stepped down as director of The Batman.

The Academy Award winner is still attached to star as the film's titular hero, and will also serve as a producer on the highly anticipated superhero film.

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Sources close to the project say that Affleck and Warner Bros. discussed how to make the best film possible and this was the decision both parties came to in the end.

“Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life,” the studio said a statement.

The studio, along with Affleck, will now begin the search for a new director.

Affleck, who will next take up the cape and cowl in Zack Snyder's Justice League on November 17th, co-wrote the scrip for The Batman with Geoff Johns.

Filming Has Begun On The Han Solo Movie

Chris Miller, one half of the directing duo on the upcoming Han Solo spinoff movie, has taken to Twitter with an exciting announcement for Star Wars fans across the globe.

Filming has officially kicked off on the next Star Wars anthology flick!

As can be seen in the image above, Miller is holding a film slate with the words Star Wars: Red Cup plastered on it - and we're betting this won't be the official title of the movie. The tweet also features a rather clever caption which echoes the feelings of fans far and near - Han Shot First.

Plot details surrounding the movie are being kept under wraps at this time, but we do know that the movie will follow a young Han Solo during his early days as a smuggler.

Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, the upcoming Han Solo anthology movie is currently slated for release on May 25th, 2018.

Although rumors of a possible December release date have also been floating around

Black Lightning To Reportedly Shoot In March

Things have been rather quiet on the Black Lightning front lately, but a new report has surfaced that seems to hint that things are slowly moving forward on the new DC Entertainment series.

According to My Entertainment World, the series, which will air on Fox and follow the adventures of Jefferson Pierce as he is forced to return to the role of superhero, will begin filming this March down in New Orleans. If this is indeed the case, casting for the project should be announced very soon.

Black Lightning comes from Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, alongside DC TV visionary Greg Berlanti. Earlier reports indicate that the Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have been working on this project for over a year now as those involved wanted to get it done right. Additionally, it was at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that Berlanti confirmed that as of right now, there are no plans to connect this new show to the Arrowverse.

Look for more news soon!

Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning.
