The name's Bond. James Bond.
Agent 007 returns to newsstands next week with a brand new series from Dynamite Entertainment. Hailing from the creative team of Ales Kot and Luca Casalanguida, James Bond: The Body begins with everyone's favorite MI6 agent undergoing a post-mission medical examination after a rather rough encounter with a mysterious assassin.
During said examination, Bond recounts the events of the evening - only omitting crucial information whenever he deems it appropriate. Under cover as a waiter at a swanky, upscale dinner, Bond reveals that he was on the trail of an unknown assassin. One who was looking to take out a young woman during the party. Tracking his target as only he could, Bond keeps a close watch on the assassin and makes his move on the man mere moments before he carries out his hit on his unsuspecting mark.
However, for all his skill and training, the target is much tougher than initially thought. This results in James Bond suffering numerous injuries during the tussle - including three broken ribs, a broken nose, black eye and more. Readers will discover how Bond sustained each of these injuries over the course of the story, but also witness a relationship form between two men from two very different backgrounds - one trained to repair lives, and one trained to take them.
However, what's more interesting then watching Bond recount this tale while his body is repaired has to do with something he doesn't inform his physician about - the discovery of a letter on the body of his target warning of a top secret group capable of getting whatever they want!
James Bond: The Body is a downright amazing beginning to a brand new series! Playing out like the action sequence from one of the super spy's many movies, it's fast paced and action-packed from start to finish, but it also leaves you wanting more!
Kudos to Ales Kot and Luca Casalanguida for crafting a debut issue that honors Ian Fleming's iconic agent! We can't stress enough how excited we are to see what's coming next!
Rating: 5/5 - "Kot and Casalanguida have hit the ground running with this debut issue that plays out like a shot-for-shot action sequence from one of the super spy's many movies."
James Bond: The Body #1 hits newsstands on Wednesday, January 17th.
