Review: Dynamite - Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #2

The galaxy spanning adventure continues this month with Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #2. Peter David and Johnny Desjardins are back to bring fans a new and exciting chapter in this brand new series from Dynamite Entertainment.

The crew of the Battlestar Galactica has just been pulled through a wormhole, bringing them face-to-face with the Pegasus. The two groups come together, and soon discover that they have many things in common - including their hatred for the Cylons. However despite this similarity, they also have just as many differences. This leads to a high level of tension and suspicion onboard the ship that threatens to tare any semblance of peace between the two crews apart.

The situation only escalates when Commander Adama takes the crew of the Battlestar for Skin Jobs, a secondary race of Cylons capable of taking on human form. When their visitors protest, Adama makes arrangements to have Vice President Tom Zarek brought onto the bridge. Upon his arrival, the two groups are shocked to discover that Zarek and Apollo look to be one in the same, further supporting Adama's theory that the Battlestar crew are Cylons in human form.

Just to be certain, arrangements are made to run genetic tests on the two men. Shockingly, this results in conclusive proof that both Apollo and Zarek, though remarkably similar, are two different human beings - with no sign of Cylon interference to be found.

This finally puts the crews at peace with one another, with the crew of the Pegasus taking it upon themselves to show their visitors the ins and outs of their ship. From the Combat Information Center to the Longue, Apollo and his comrades get a pretty through tour of the Pegasus - before being invited to take part in a poker game amongst the crew.

The issue concludes by reuniting readers with Cain as he speeds home back toward the Pegasus, bringing with him the mysterious alien creature claiming to be the creator of the human race's greatest and deadliest foe - the Cylons.

Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica is quickly becoming one of the best comic titles of 2018, and while this newest issue is a little long on the dialogue, it serves as a necessary second step in adding much needed substance to the story. Additionally, this new issue features one of the most entertaining pieces of fan service we've ever seen in a comic book - the bringing together of both the late Richard Hatch's iconic characters together for the first time!

In short, the second issue of Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica is another strong and enjoyable issue from the folks at Dynamite Entertainment - and the fun is just beginning!

Rating: 3.5/5 - "Tensions escalate in another entertaining issue that features an ingenious piece of fan service to the late Richard Hatch."

Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #2 arrives on newsstands February 21st.
