Billy Dee Williams is returning to a galaxy far, far away.
The man who portrayed galactic gambler Lando Calrissian in both The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi is set to reprise the role for Star Wars: Episode IX, the next installment of the hugely popular film franchise to be directed by J.J. Abrams.
Rumours about Williams joining the next Star Wars chapter have been floating around a lot lately, gaining even more traction this summer after the iconic actor revealed that he'd bowed out of a recent convention appearance following conflict with a movie schedule.
In recent years, Williams has returned to the role of Lando Calrissian, voicing him in numerous video games and animated shows like Star Wars Rebels over on Disney XD.
Donald Glover portrayed a younger version of the future Rebel Alliance supporter this past Spring in Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Star Wars: Episode IX will unite returning stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver with franchise newcomers like Keri Russell. The film opens December 20th, 2019.
