Review: DC Comics - Batgirl Annual #2

Sibling Rivalry Takes On A Whole New Meaning!

When a new serial killer arises in Burnside with an eerily shocking M.O., Barbara Gordon must dive into the darkest corners of her past to solve a sickening series of grizzly murders.

Her search eventually takes Babs to Blackgate to confront her brother, the currently convict James Gordon Jr., who is all too willing to aid in taking down this copy cat killer. So long as Barbara promises to fulfill her promise and come visit him behind basement bars once in a while. However, as family bonds begin to slowly become restored once again, Barbara can't help but wonder if her brother is really helping her solve the case, or simply pulling the strings as the puppet master in a terrifying and diabolical power play.

However, whatever the case may be, Barbara refuses to let her guard down for even a single second, determined to bring this copy cat killer to justice and prove to her brother that she's nothing like him. Along the way, Barbara will fight to keep the darkness from taking her over, but will she be ready to face Burnside's newest serial killer when the time comes?

Find out today in this chilling issue!

The latest annual issue of Batgirl is a terrifying look within the damaged mind of a killer. And one heroine's desperate attempt to shed some light in a city blanketed in darkness! Mairghread Scott has unleashed one of the best Batgirl stories that we've ever read! It's demented and dark, but features a truly beautiful heroine at its center who's willing to stand against the wickedness and prove to all that there is still a light shining in the dark!

Additionally, Elena Casagrande's art is simply sublime. Both beautiful and chilling, she strikes a near perfect balance within this super-sized issue that really shines with the passage of each panel, and has us crying out for more zone issue's end! The final result does not disappoint, and we can't recommend this terrifying tale of sibling rivalry enough!

If DC Comics did Silence Of The Lambs, the end result would be Mairghread Scott's top notch Batgirl book, with James Gordon Jr. playing the role of Hannibal Lecter and Barbara Gordon as Clarice Starling! Batgirl Annual #2 is a fantastic and chilling read that belongs in the library of ever DC Comics fan! You don't want to miss this one! It's so good!

Rating: 5/5 - "A book that proves there are stars shining even within the darkest of moments! A truly spectacular story!"
