Review: DC Comics - Batman #56

Let The Hunt Begin!

After his former ward is injured at the hands of super assassin KGBeast, Bruce Wayne suits up and begins a grim crusade across Gotham City looking for answers.

Meanwhile, the Soviet Scourge takes to the shadows, eventually reuniting with his estranged father. During his time in hiding, father and son take some time to reconnect, with Anatoli's father not too pleased to hear that his son has yet to exact vengeance on the man who took his arm.

During this time, Batman continues to search for his foe's whereabouts, with the scum of Gotham City attempting to keep clear as The Bat kicks down every door in his path. Eventually, Bruce gets some answers and learns of Anatoli's whereabouts, but its far off the grid in an area where his friends will be unable to help. Will Bruce get the vengeance he craves?

Or is he walking into a trap orchestrated by a stone cold killer?

Batman continues to be one of the strongest books in DC's arsenal to date!

Tom King continues to masterfully weave tales worthy of The Dark Knight, and we're not afraid to say we feel his work will stand with the likes of Kane, Miller, and Snyder as some of the very best Bat-Tastic stories from throughout Bruce Wayne's 80 year history!

And when you combine King's masterful storytelling with the art of the great Tony S. Daniel, this is certain to be a Batman book for the ages! Keep up the good work, gentlemen!

Rating: 4/5 - "King's Batman is one for the ages, one that'll stand with the works of Kane, Miller and Snyder as some of the best books in history."
