Review: DC Comics - Shazam! #3

It's Good To Be The King!

The Funlands are every kid's dream come true, and it's ruler wants nothing more than to allow every child in need of escape to come to his kingdom and leave their cares behind. However, he also hides a few secrets - one of which is his desire to become a member of the Shazam family.

Yet, it soon becomes clear that Billy and his friends aren't going to just hand over the magic word to King Kid - and this doesn't sit well with the king. But, not as badly as when he and his loyal subjects discover that Billy, Freddy, Mary, Darla and the rest aren't exactly who they claim to be!

When it is revealed that these new visitors are actually adults, King Kid sees this as a betrayal and an act of treason against the Funlands. And so, he sends the member of the Shazam family to all the different corners of the Magiclands - where new challenges await them.

Geoff Johns' latest issue of Shazam! is goofy and goodhearted, a feel good tale that any fan of the DC Universe can enjoy! It's bright, colorful and as magical as its titular character!

If you're looking for a book that genuinely fun, and not afraid to embrace its overall uniqueness and signature brand of fun, then Geoff Johns' Shazam! is just for you!

Rating: 3/5 - "Big. Bright. Beautiful! Shazam! is pure magic!"
