Review: DC Comics - Wonder Twins #1

You've Been Thunderstruck!

Being a teenager is never easy, especially when you happen to be the type of teenager who has been exiled from your home planet and is forced to face those strange, formative years on Earth.

Such is the case with alien heroes Zan and Jayna. These alien heroes must now deal with the onset of adult hood in South Metropolis, where they're even more awkward then your typical young adults! Fortunately, they've got Superman looking out for them, but is it enough?

After all, Jayna is beyond shy, and Zan is now at an age where he experiences the powerful feelings of Thunderlust with even the slightest flash of lightning, so yeah, they've got their hands pretty full. Thankfully, they'll get to enjoy a little distraction pulling monitor duty at the Hall Of Justice. Here's just hoping they can stay out of trouble long enough to help the Justice League.

We cannot fully express the shear sense of joy we experienced with the debut issue of Wonder Twins! It's a unique coming of age tale that offers up a fresh take on two classic DC Comics characters, and makes them the perfect fit for the social media era.

Mark Russell and Stephen Byrne have taken everything we thought we knew about Zan and Jayna and tossed it headlong out a third story window! The end result is chummy, charming, sweet and both a welcome and refreshing addition to the ever expanding DC Comics canon.

This is one hell of a solid homerun, and we can't wait for more!

Rating: 5/5 - "A unique coming of age tale offering up a very fresh and very relevant take on two classic DC characters!"
