Following the conclusion of The Flash Season 1, which saw a very familiar helmet come flying from a wormhole, and confirmation from series showrunners that additional speedsters and alternate timelines would be explored come Season 2, fans have been clamouring for a casting announcement surrounding JSA founding member Jay Garrick.
While nothing has officially been announced by Warner Bros. or DC Entertainment, a new casting call for the show has been uncovered by our friends over at TVLine, which contains a description that could very well be for the Golden Age Flash.
The Flash, however – in addition to Wendy – is casting the season-long role of a classically handsome, square-jawed hero in his 30s to early 40s, a slightly cynical man “with an edge.”
Again, nothing is official at this time. The character is often portrayed as a man in his 50's in the pages of DC Comics. However, the New 52 version of Garrick was re-imagined as a college graduate just starting out on his superhero career path. So, while the age in the casting call is a little young for the original take on Jay, it is possible The Flash is looking to combine different aspects of both versions of the character.
We could very well be wrong, but we're thinking there's a pretty good chance this casting call is indeed for Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick.
More info as it becomes available.
