If you thought we'd seen the last of Jerome on Gotham, you'd best think again!
According to producer John Stephens, the creepy character is set to make a comeback in Season 3 of the gritty DC drama - even though he was killed off last season. What's more, when Jerome does make his triumphant return from beyond the grave, he's set to have ties to the Joker myth.
"It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back," Stephens explained while speaking with Zap2it. "We're going to be playing it again this year and basically extending the idea of the cult of Jerome. We're building the architecture for him to come back."
"You'll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he's going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist," he continued. "Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we'll bring that back in a much bigger way and you'll see these different versions of the Joker myth."
Stephens also revealed that when Jerome returns, he won't be the same character we remember.
“He plays into the idea of transformation. When he comes back, you want to see that new version,” he says. “That next step forward.”
Starring Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Robin Lord Taylor, Cory Michael Smith, Erin Richards, Morena Baccarin, Cameron Monaghan, Jaime Chung, Maggie Geha and Benedict Samuel, Gotham kicks off Season 3 on Monday, September 19th at 8pm.
