It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a new Superman prequel series!
Syfy has handed out a series order to Krypton from David S. Goyer. The show is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, and follows Superman’s grandfather - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Goyer, who wrote the script with Damian Kindler, will serve as executive producer on the new show. Kindler is set to serve as showrunner. Colm McCarthy directed the pilot episode and will co-executive produce.
Krypton stars Cameron Cuffe, Ian McElhinney and Georgina Campbell.
A premiere date has yet to be set.
The Superman prequel marks the latest addition to DC Entertainment's ever expanding slate of television shows. The multimedia juggernaut has the Batman prequel Gotham and Lucifer at Fox, along with Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends Of Tomorrow, iZombie and the upcoming Black Lightning over on The CW.
