Fox Assigns Dates To Six Mystery Marvel Movies

20th Century Fox has snagged a total of six release dates for upcoming mystery Marvel movies.

Be sure to mark the following on your blockbuster movie calendar...
  • June 7, 2019
  •  Nov. 22, 2019
  •  March 13, 2020
  •  June 26, 2020
  •  Oct. 2, 2020
  • March 5, 2021
The studio has already assigned 2018 release dates to New Mutants, Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so it is currently unknown what projects will be filling these dates at the box office.

We do know that Fox has plans for a third Deadpool, as well as an X-Force spinoff and one centered around Dafne Keen's Laura from James Mangold's Logan, so it's possible that these movies could end up being assigned one of the above dates.

Which Marvel movies do you think will be taking up these dates at the box office?

A Live-Action Jetsons Sitcom Is Headed Our Way

Last month, word broke that Conrad Vernon had signed on to direct The Jetsons, an animated retelling of the classic Hanna-Barbara animated series, which ran from 1962 until 1963.

Now, TVLine has learned that Warner Bros. is also developing a live-action sitcom take on the property alongside Back To The Future director Robert Zemeckis. The new sitcom will focus on a family residing in the futuristic, outer-space utopia known as Orbit City.

Family Guy executive producer Gary Janetti has also been brought in to help shepherd the potential series, with the studio hoping to begin shopping the project around to broadcast and cable networks in the coming weeks. Janetti will serve as an executive producer on The Jetsons alongside Zemeckis and Jack Rapke. Jackie Levine will serve as a co-executive producer.

The Jetsons series was originally set in the year 2062. The new series will be set in 2118.

Wonder Woman Passes Batman v Superman Domestically

Wonder Woman has now become the highest-grossing DC Films release here in North America.

The Patty Jenkins blockbuster earned an additional $2.68-Million at the domestic box office yesterday, bringing its total here up to $330.5-Million. That pushes the film just above the $330.3-Million earned by Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice back in 2016.

It has been just under a month since Wonder Woman first arrived in theaters and, in that time, it has passed the domestic totals of each and every previous DC Films entry. If that's not impressive enough, the film currently sits at $677-Million worldwide and is expected to cross the $700-Million mark at some point this weekend.

Not bad for less than a month in theaters.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman is in theatres now.

The Story Behind Star Fox 2

Earlier this week, Nintendo set the Internet ablaze with official word of the Super NES Classic, a miniaturized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System set to follow in the footsteps of last year's highly coveted, poorly supplied, NES Classic.

Pre-loaded with 21 classic titles ranging from Contra III: Alien Wars to Yoshi's Island, the system promises to transport gamers back to the glorious 16-bit gaming era like never before! However, no title has fans more excited, or intrigued, then Star Fox 2.

Let's take a look at what is perhaps the most famous cancelled video game of all time...

Known as "The Game That Almost Was", Star Fox 2 was set for release on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System right near the end of the console's shelf life. Widely hyped through numerous gaming magazines and trade shows,  Nintendo would end up cancelling the title late in 1995. This has always come as a shock to fans of the franchise, especially given the critical success of the first Star Fox title released back in 1993.

Star Fox 2 was to serve as a direct sequel to the original, with the army of Andross once again attacking the peaceful planet of Corneria. Fox McCloud once again assembles a team of crack pilots - including Falco, Slippy, Peppy, along with newcomers Miyu and Fay - to face the new threat head on!

Breaking away from the linear format of the original title, Star Fox 2 would give players complete control of where they wanted to go throughout the galaxy, with the ultimate goal to defeat the invaders and to, once again, restore piece to Corneria. Each pilot would be given their own ship and unique set of abilities to aid gamers throughout the course of the story. If that wasn't exciting enough, players could even land on planets and take out corresponding enemy bases, transforming their Arwing into a mechanical walker for ground-based combat.

In short, everything about Star Fox 2, from its improved graphics and frame rate, to its shooter-meets-strategy layout, is downright awesome!

When it was first showcased at the CES show back in 1995, Star Fox 2 was an instant hit! Audiences praised the increased freedom and action-packed gameplay of the sequel and several magazines listed the title as their most anticipated video game from the trade show. Nintendo planned on releasing Star Fox 2 on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the summer of 1995, but that never happened. As time went on, rumors began to spread that the title had been delayed, until Nintendo announced their hopes of releasing it in the first half of 1996.

And then, in September 1996, the Nintendo 64 arrived in North America. Not long after that, Star Fox 64 arrived on store shelves, killing any hopes of Star Fox 2 ever seeing a release on the Super Nintendo. So, the question still remains: What exactly happened to Star Fox 2?

Well, with Nintendo being well aware of the next generation of video game consoles coming out from SEGA and Sony, the company wanted to focus all their attention and resources on the Nintendo 64. Shigeru Miyamoto, the co-representative director for Nintendo, apparently didn't want to see the company embarrassed by putting out a new title on an older gaming system. The next generation of home video gaming was upon them, and it only made sense to move forward.

Nintendo would end up carrying some of the concepts from Star Fox 2 over to Star Fox 64, but the Super Nintendo sequel would never end up seeing an official release. Throughout the late 1990's, several versions of the game would released online, with one of the sequel's original programmers eventually leaking a near finished version of the game online in the early 2000's. Fans would scoop it up fervently, translating it to English and cleaning up the final product for their fellow gamers.

When the Super NES Classic arrives this September, it will mark the first time Nintendo has officially released Star Fox 2 to market. For many, it will also mark the very first time they'll be able to experience the game, in full and in their own homes.

While there are a lot of exciting titles set for release with the Super NES Classic, it's Star Fox 2 that will have us doing everything in our power to obtain one of these mini gaming consoles!

Are you ready to experience "The Game That Almost Was" this coming Fall?

We know we sure are!

Until next time, Infinite Earths fans!

Alice Braga Joins New Mutants

Alice Braga has joined the cast of New Mutants, the upcoming X-Men spinoff from director Josh Boone. Braga, who has appeared in such films as Predators and I Am Legend, is stepping into the role initially inhabited by actress Rosario Dawson - who has exited the project for unknown reasons.

Braga will portray Dr. Cecilia Reyes, a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself but also has more going on than she lets on.

Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton, Henry Zaga and Blu Hunt also star.

New Mutants draws heavily on the 1980s comic book works by Chris Claremont, Bob McLeod and Bill Sienkiewicz. It will tell of five diverse teens learning to cope with their superpowers who must escape a secret facility where they are being held against their will. The studio is intent on taking a horror-thriller approach to the spinoff.

The movie begins shooting in Boston this July and is set for release on April 13th, 2018.

Warner Bros. Excited For Matt Reeves' The Batman

Matt Reeves recently appeared on the Playback Podcast, where he spoke about working alongside Warner Bros. and shared his vision for The Batman.

The War For The Planet Of The Apes helmer was asked how confident he was that the studio will let him tell the Batman story that he wants to tell, especially given the small roadblock he encountered during negotiations with Warner Bros. earlier this year.

"I certainly hope so. Let’s put it this way. I’ve never worked with them but my experience with them so far has been really good. As I describe what I want to do, they seem really excited. So its the beginning of a journey."

"When I came in to do Apes, I had no idea, I had never made a studio film like that before. Even Cloverfield, though it came out through Paramount, was not really a studio film. Bad Robot had final cut so it was like making an indie, and so they were just really supportive and released the movie so it wasn’t really a studio film. These two [Apes] movies, I’ve been able to make exactly the movie I wanted to make. Whatever flaws are in there are in some way we weren’t able to achieve something, I wasn’t able to pull something off, we didn’t have enough time, or whatever it is. It also is not something where I look back and go, ‘that damn studio compromise.’"

"So I think there’s a way in which you can work with a studio. I’ve never worked with any studio other than Fox, so its going to be an exploration for me. I’m excited to say that thus far they seem really excited about it and I suppose if we should ever come to an impasse then we’d have to resolve it one way or another. I’m very hopeful and positive about it."

Reeves then went on to share what he finds interesting about Batman and what he expects the highly anticipated superhero solo adventure to be like.

"What I see in Batman that I find so interesting is that, in a way, he reminds me of Caesar, in that he is a character with a really troubled past who is grappling within himself to try to do the right thing in a really imperfect world, in a corrupt world. That provides an opportunity, again, if you want to take that point-of-view storytelling — and I can imagine the story as being like a noir. The originals from the golden age were detective stories. I think if you can marry that with the personal, there’s a chance to do something very exciting."

The Batman will star Ben Affleck as Batman, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon.
