Season 3 of The Flash concluded with Barry Allen bidding farewell to his loved ones before stepping into the Speed Force. Prior to doing this, the Scarlet Speedster assured them that Central City would always have a Flash in the form of Wally West.
Does this in fact mean that Wally will be following in the steps of his comic book counterpart and taking up Barry's mantle in Season 4 of The Flash? Not according to Keiynan Lonsdale.
Speaking with Newsweek, the actor revealed that this is something that he is open for, but that fans shouldn't expect Wally to be playing the role of The Flash next season.
"It’s not something that’s on my radar. I feel as though there is so much story to tell and Wally has so much growing to do. I’d like to see that journey continue. That’s what I think is important. We need to see how these character realistically get to where they are headed for."
As we mentioned above, Wally does end up filling Barry's shoes in the pages of DC Comics, but the TV counterpart did just become Kid Flash last year, so we're guessing there is more to come for Kid Flash before he ends up becoming the next Scarlet Speedster on the small screen.
The Flash returns on Tuesday, October 10th.
