Earlier today, it was revealed that Wonder Woman kicked off its domestic run this weekend with a massive $100.5-Million, the highest ever opening weekend for a female directed film. Now, adding to that impressive number, is an additional $122.5-Million from 55 separate overseas markets.
Thus, Wonder Woman is currently the #1 movie in the world with a massive worldwide cume of $223-Million. In China, the movie lassoed an additional $38-Million, while Korea handed over $8.5-Million in earnings. Over $8-Million came in from both Brazil and Mexico respectively, while $7.5-Million was earned over in the United Kingdom.
Wonder Woman generated a bigger overseas opening than the likes of the first two Thor and Iron Man movies, as well as both of the Guardians Of The Galaxy films.
The film currently enjoys a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film marks the first time that Wonder Woman has gotten her own big-screen movie.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman arrives in theatres now.
