Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman has been earning some rather rapturous reviews - with some calling it the best DC Comics film since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight. The film is expected to dominate the box office this weekend with pre-release tracking predicting a North American debut of $95-Million or more!
The female-centric tentpole will also be debuting in many markets overseas, including China. Analysts predict that the fourth entry in the DC Films Universe will lasso well north of $100-Million internationally this weekend.
Warner Bros. is being slightly more conservative and suggesting somewhere between $65-$70-Million domestically this weekend. This would still be an impressive accomplishment for the movie, the first female led superhero film to hit the big screen in over a decade.
Wonder Woman currently enjoys a 94% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The film marks the first time that Wonder Woman has gotten her own big-screen movie.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman arrives in theatres on June 2nd.
