Disney has officially cast its big three for Guy Ritchie's Aladdin.
Joining the live-action adaption of the 1992 animated classic will be newcomer Mena Massoud in the role of Aladdin, Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott as Jasmin and Suicide Squad leading man Will Smith as the Genie.
John August wrote the script for the live-action adaption, while Dan Lin will produce and Jonathan Eirich will serve as executive producer. Interestingly, Dan Lin previously worked with Guy Ritchie on the director's two Sherlock Holmes movies.
The original Aladdin film featured the voice talents of Scott Weinger, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Jim Cummings, Frank Welker, Gilbert Gottfried and Robin Williams. It would go on to become the highest grossing film of 1992, and won Academy Awards for best score and best song for A Whole New World.
The casting announcement was made this afternoon at the D23 Expo in Anaheim.
