When The Incredibles sequel finally hits the big screen in 2018, it will have been fourteen years since Pixar first introduced us to the superpowered Parr family.
Since the film was first announced, fans have been curious as to what year the sequel will take place in and how old the characters will be. Now, Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter has finally addressed those questions and revealed that the sequel will pick up immediately following the events of the first film.
"It starts right as the first one finishes, so it just carries on," Lasseter said today during the D23 Expo. He adds that the sequel will commence with a major action scene centering on the molish Underminer, who rose to the surface at the conclusion of the first movie.
"It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece," Lasseter said. "You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where [we] start this movie."
Featuring the returning voice talents of Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter and Samuel L. Jackson, The Incredibles 2 arrives in theaters on June 15th, 2018.
