After opening in select theaters last night, Spider-Man: Homecoming swung its way to a strong $15.4-Million in Thursday night previews. That's the third highest of the year, behind Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 and the live-action take on Beauty And The Beast.
Directed by Jon Watts, the film is expected to gross around $100-Million domestically in its opening weekend, with analysts predicting that the film could gross somewhere between $190-$210-Million worldwide come Sunday night.
The film opens in a total of 4,341 locations today, including 392 IMAX cinemas and 601 premium large-format screens.
Tom Holland portrays the newest big screen version of Peter Parker, a high school student who returns from his adventures with the Avengers following the events of Captain America: Civil War, and has a tough time adjusting to life back at school.
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
