Star Wars: The Last Jedi Earns $45-Million In Previews


Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theatres today, and it has already netted an incredible $45-Million in Thursday night previews. This is the second highest preview number in box office history, behind only J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The latest installment in the popular franchise is expected to bring in $200-Million at the North American box office this weekend, making it the strongest opening of 2017 to date.

For comparison, The Force Awakens brought in $57-Million worth of previews back in December 2015, and went on to rake in $247-Million in its opening weekend to become the #1 film of all time domestically with over $936-Million. By the end of its theatrical run early in 2016, Star Wars: The Force Awakens had grossed $2.1-Billion worldwide.

Directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran, Benicio del Toro and Lupita Nyong'o.
