Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theatres today, and it has already netted an incredible $45-Million in Thursday night previews. This is the second highest preview number in box office history, behind only J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The latest installment in the popular franchise is expected to bring in $200-Million at the North American box office this weekend, making it the strongest opening of 2017 to date.
For comparison, The Force Awakens brought in $57-Million worth of previews back in December 2015, and went on to rake in $247-Million in its opening weekend to become the #1 film of all time domestically with over $936-Million. By the end of its theatrical run early in 2016, Star Wars: The Force Awakens had grossed $2.1-Billion worldwide.
