Review: DC Comics - Justice League #10

Are You Prepared For Drowned Earth?

The highly anticipated comic book event begins this week in the pages of Justice League #10. Hailing from the creative team of Scott Snyder and Francis Manapul, the eco adventure begins as Aquaman and a few friends set off to find answers regarding the death of Poseidon.

Meanwhile, Batman keeps things under control at the Hall Of Justice, keeping on contact with his fellow heroes in the field while recuperating from some pretty nasty injuries.

Aquaman's search for answers eventually take him to the Arctic, where he ends up crossing paths with a powerful entity known as The Flood. This herald for long dead ocean gods holds a grudge against Poseidon and the human race as a whole, thus forcing Aquaman into conflict with the group - just as they decree war on the world and unleash a monster to drown the planet.

Justice League #10 is an incredibly gripping start to the beginning of Drowned Earth!

The art is majestic, capturing the fascinating world of the DC Universe and the heroes and villains that call it home. Meanwhile, Scott Snyder is once again at the top of his game here, unleashing a fantastic first step in what is sure to be an epic DC Comics event!

Once again, Scott Snyder has proven why he's one of the best and brightest over at DC Comics, while Francis Manapul complements this epic issue with some of the best art we've ever seen!

In short, you don't want to miss the latest issue of Justice League! Calling to mind the beloved animated series of yesteryear, this one is sure to be one of the best books of the year!

Rating: 5/5 - "Snyder and Manapul have kicked off something sure to be one of the strongest DC Comics events of the year!"

Review: DC Comics - Harley Quinn #52

Wetness The Secret Origins Of Captain Triumph!

Harley Quinn #52 hits newsstands today, which sees the loopy heroine attempting to help get Captain Triumph back to his own time and place. After all, when you're under the impression that cellular phones are mind-control devices, perhaps you should stay back in the 1930's.

Then again, maybe 'ol Cap ain't that far off the mark!

In any case, Harley's Golden Boy isn't too happy to discover why he's stuck eighty years in the future. And he's made it abundantly clear he wants to reunite with his brother, fiancé and fellow Golden Age superheroes as soon as he can. Of course, Harley will be needing a little help.

Fortunately, she's got Continuity Cop Jonni DC standing by for just such an occasion.

The latest issue of Harley Quinn is as off the wall as ever, resulting in a very fun title that just seems to get better and better with each passing week! Sam Humphries has crafted an amusing tale that takes a unique look at how our worlds have changed over the last eight decades, but admits that every time period has had its flaws. Additionally, at its center is a rather heart warming message to readers about appreciating those special people in your life.

Yep, Harley Quinn may be bonkers, and more than a little goofy, but we just can't help but eat up every last charming issue! And we invite all who haven't yet to take a big bite!

Rating: 4/5 - "Bonkers. Goofy. And Charming To Boot!"

Review: DC Comics - Green Lanterns #57

Coast City Is Under Attack!

After escaping the full might of the Green Lantern Corps, Cyborg Superman has set his sights on Coast City - the home of the heroic Hal Jordan. Using the full might of the Phantom Ring, the vile villain looks to burn the city to the ground, along with all who call it home.

Fortunately, Hal Jordan is on his way, and he's bringing some pretty impressive backup! However, this will be far from a simply fight as Henshaw is determined to accomplish his task.

Meanwhile, one member of the Green Lantern Corps is beginning to realize that the universe could have a bigger plan for her - and she's more than willing to follow the path to see where it leads. However, her fellow teammates might not be all that eager to let her go.

Dan Jurgens is once again at the top of his game here!

The latest issue of Green Lanterns features plenty of sweeping imagery, and an interpreting twist many readers may not see coming. It's an extremely satisfying read, and one that we can't recommend enough to Green Lantern fans across the globe!

It's fast, fun, and even a little furious. But easily a must-read for fans old and new!

Rating: 5/5 - "An extremely satisfying read, filled with sweeping imagery and plenty of superheroics! You won't want to miss it!"

Review: DC Comics - Batman #57

Batman goes to War!

As the icy cold wind whips about him, The Dark Knight finally locates the hiding place of KGBeast this week in the action-packed pages of Batman #57.

What follows, against the backdrop of a chilling childhood story about animals fighting for survival, is a no-holds bared beat down between Bruce Wayne and a relentless and silent assassin arisen from his past. As the fists and bullets fly, Batman soon learns that there is someone else behind the scenes pulling the strings behind Nightwing's attempted murder. The question is, who?

While the Caped Crusader can't say for sure, he knows he doesn't have time to waste with someone like the KGBeast. And so, The Batman quickly topples his assailant, proving once and for all that he's the ultimate animal within this Cold War - one who must now stalk bigger prey!

The latest issue of Batman may be light on the dialogue, but what Tom King and Tony S. Daniel give us instead is something visually stunning as two DC Universe heavyweights clash for the first time in nearly thirty years! And the end result is downright spectacular!

King and Daniel have really raised the bar here, and we can't wait to see where The Batman's hunt will be taking him next! And as for KGBeast? Perhaps he's finally learned not to cross The Dark Knight - although, somehow we doubt it.

Batman #57 is an astonishing glimpse into the physical prowess of Bruce Wayne, and an important piece to the puzzle that is the Trail Of Mr. Freeze! Easily one of the best of the week!

Rating: 5/5 - "Light on the dialogue it may be, but what a visual spectacle!"
