Fox Shuffles X-Men Films Dark Phoenix & New Mutants


Get your calendars out, Infinite Earths fans!

20th Century Fox has issued new release dates to a pair of their upcoming X-Men spinoffs in Simon Kinberg’s X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Josh Boone's New Mutants.

First up, X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been moved from November 2nd, 2018 to February 14th, 2019Marking February as a destination for superhero tentpoles, the film will open Thursday in hopes of taking advantage of Valentine's Day in a similar fashion to Tim Miller's Deadpool.

The new release date sees the Fox film opening one week after Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Silver & Black. The Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody will take the initial November 2nd date.

Kinberg is making his directorial debut with X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which stars Jessica Chastain and aims to retell the defining Dark Phoenix storyline from the early 1980s comic book.


Additionally, New Mutants has been moved from February 22nd, 2019 to August 2nd, 2019.

The horror-tinged take on Marvel's teen heroes stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams and Charlie Heaton. Previously, the spinoff jumped from April 13th to February 22nd, 2019.
