Early tracking for Dwayne Johnson's Rampage has hit the web, putting the creature feature on track for a solid $35-Million debut here in North America.
The film opens on April 13th and shows a 44% definite interest in the Warner Bros. and New Line theatrical release. The studio recently moved the film from its original release date of April 20th after Disney and Marvel shuffled Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War to that date.
Rampage is based off of the classic arcade game of the same name and stars Dwayne Johnson as a primatologist attempting to stop three genetically modified animals from causing a worldwide catastrophe as they battle it out across North America.
Warner Bros. has high hopes for the Brad Peyton film, especially following the success of Dwayne Johnson's last film, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. Released late last year, the Sony Pictures sequel defied expectations and raked in a massive $940-Million worldwide.
Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, P.J. Byrne, Marley Shelton, and Matt Gerald, Rampage stomps into movie theatres on Friday, April 13th.
