Avengers Debut Numbers Adjust Up

Well, well, well. It looks as though Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Infinity War brought in more this weekend than initially thought. Not that we're that surprised.

The studio reports that the worldwide box office total this weekend was actually $640.9-Million. Here in North America, the Marvel mash-up earned $258.2-Million and $382.7-Million coming in from overseas since Wednesday. Additionally, the Sunday night domestic total was actually $69.2-Million. This officially eclipses the previous Sunday record of $60.6-Million held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens back in December 2015.

The previous worldwide record holder was F. Gary Gray's The Fate Of The Furious with $541.9-Million. That film still holds the international opening record with $443-Million, but that included some serious coin from China, where the Marvel movie won't open until May 11th.

Picking up two years after the events seen in Joe and Anthony Russo's Captain America: Civil War, the new movie sees the Avengers teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop the evil Thanos from achieving inter-galactic dominance.

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Holland, Scarlett Johansson, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, David Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Benedict Cumberbatch and Josh Brolin, Avengers: Infinity War is in theatres now!

Black Panther Tops The Last Jedi

The good times keep on rolling for Marvel Studios.

Not only did Avengers: Infinity War snag the largest box office opening with over $640-Million worldwide, but now Ryan Coogler's Black Panther has pushed its way to $1.331-Billion worldwide - placing it in ninth place on the global charts above Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As if that's not impressive enough, this new total has allow the Marvel tentpole to pass the inflation-adjusted domestic totals of both The Dark Knight and Thunderball with $688-Million.

Additionally, the money pulled in by both Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther have officially pushed the global total of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, made up of 19 movies ranging from Ant-Man to Thor: Ragnarok, to a huge $15.39-Billion.

Like we said, the good times keep on rolling!

And Marvel Studios isn't even finished with the year yet.

Sure, Avengers: Infinity War has just begun its theatrical run, but let's not forget that Ant-Man And The Wasp also hits the big screen on Friday, July 6th. It'll be very interesting to see where the multimedia juggernaut sits come Christmas time.

Very interesting, indeed!

Jason Momoa On Aquaman vs. Justice League

This past week at CinemaCon, Warner Bros. and director James Wan screened some unfinished footage from the Aquaman movie - which reportedly really impressed the crowd.

Jason Momoa reprises his role as the King Of Atlantis, whom we last saw this past November in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Speaking with MTV at the event, Momoa revealed just how much shooting Aquaman differed from his experience on Justice League.

"Justice League was like college. I’m not really sure what Aquaman was, it’s just all on my shoulders. I had a great time. I think in Justice League, you had five other characters around you suffering equally the same, so it was kind of fun to endure that. And then, you know, it got me ready to do my solo movie which was challenging and tough and hard and super satisfying."

You can listen to Momoa's comments in the video posted below...

Descriptions of the footage screened at CinemaCon claim that the film looks bigger and more ambitious than anything that DC Comics has done before.

Starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen, Temuera Morrison, Nicole Kidman, Randall Park, and Dolph Lundgren, Aquaman arrives December 21st.

Feig Keen On Ghostbusters 2

While at CinemaCon this past week, Ghostbusters director Paul Feig said that he's keen on the idea of helming a sequel to the 2016 reboot - should the studio be interested.

"We would love [to make another movie], it’s really up to the studio," Feig said in a recent interview with Yahoo! "We had so much fun making that movie. The movie’s just really built an audience in the two years since it’s been out. I get contacted every day by people who are such fans of it, and so many women who are inspired by seeing women in science. I will go to my grave so proud of that movie, and so proud of what that cast did in that film."

Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Chris Hemsworth starred in the 2016 reboot to the 1984 Ivan Reitman comedy. It would go on to gross $229-Million worldwide before finishing up its theatrical run in the summer of 2016.
