James Mangold To Direct Boba Fett Movie

The hunt is on!

Logan director James Mangold has been tapped to write and direct a Star Wars spinoff centred around the famed bounty hunter known as Boba Fett.

The news arrives just as the latest spinoff, Ron Howard's Solo: A Star Wars Story, is about to hit the big screen. Disney and Lucasfilm are currently developing numerous films centred on a slew of characters including Obi-Wan Kenobi, which has Stephen Daldry in talks to direct.

Boba Fett first debuted in an animated short as part of the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special before making the jump to the big screen in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

A character shrouded in mystery for years, Boba's origins were explored as a brief subplot in 2002's Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones. He has also appeared in numerous books, comics, animated series, video games and merchandizing throughout the last 40 years.

Details for the Boba Fett film are currently unknown at this time.
