The Vulture will fly again.
Hot on the heels of news that Jake Gyllenhaal has entered talks to portray Mysterio in the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, Variety is reporting that Michael Keaton will also be returning to his role as Adrian Toomes in the highly anticipated Jon Watts sequel.
A more sympathetic villain than most, Keaton's portrayal of The Vulture was easily one of the highpoints within Spider-Man: Homecoming. This is the first indication that we've gotten of Keaton's return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and interestingly enough, pervious reports had indicated that Keaton had only signed a single picture deal with Marvel Studios.
The trade also confirms the return of Marissa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as Michelle.
With this new report, one can't help but wonder if the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, which will kick off the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2019, will feature the early forming of the famed Marvel Comics villain team, The Sinister Six.
Expect more news soon!
Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 opens on July 5th, 2019.
