All the pieces are falling into place.
After discovering Kali's plan, the crews of both Battlestars put a plan into action with a little help from the Omega Protocol. However, the villainous vixen won't be going down without a fight!
Assuming her control over Commander Cain, Kali convinces him to unleash hell upon the two Battlestars. However, daughter Sheba arrives on deck and desperately attempts to return her father back to normal. This results in Kali showing where her true loyalties lie, but also ends up snapping Cain back to his normal self. Enraged by the conniving alien's actions against him and Sheba, Commander Cain ferociously attacks Kali and ends her once and for all.
Meanwhile, back in the inky blackness of space, the two Viper brigades break off from their mock assault of one another and attack a freshly arrived Cylon Basestar. During this time, Count Iblis arrives to discover the shocking fate of Kali at the hands of Commander Cain, who proceeds to deliver some rightly deserved punishment to the conniving double-crosser.
But, Cain isn't finished yet.
Ashamed by his actions, Commander Cain looks to amend his mistakes by destroying their enemies in the only way he can - in a blazing fireball of glory.
Afterwards, we rejoin the crew of the original Battlestar as they toast to another successful mission and their friends onboard the recently departed second ship. Meanwhile, as the issue closes off, we catch up with Count Iblis - who may not be as cold as we once thought.
All we can say about the final issue of Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica is wow! Peter David has crafted a truly lucrative puzzle of a tale here, where all the pieces lock firmly into place come issue's end. This is a tensely woven tale that gripped us unlike anything we've read in a very long time and it is, without a doubt, the single best Battlestar Galactica story that we've had the privilege of witnessing outside of either television show!
We walk away from this one feeling entertained to the highest degree, albeit more than a little upset that this masterfully crafted serial has now come to a close. We eagerly look forward to what's next, but damn, does the next team ever have some big shoes to fill if they hope to follow in the footsteps of Peter David's mind blowing deep space epic!
Godspeed to whomever that may be, because you've certainly got your work cut out for you!
Rating: 5/5 - "This isbthe single best Battlestar Galactica story we have ever read!"
