Netflix is preparing to launch a new Stranger Things game under a new deal with Telltale.
Not many details are known at this time, but Telltale will release the game on both home video game consoles and PCs respectively. Additionally, a Netflix rep revealed that the game is not going to be available on the streaming platform, and is instead "part of our marketing and title promotion efforts." Interestingly enough, to promote the second season of Stranger Things last October, Netflix launched a retro-style Stranger Things mobile game alongside BonusXP.
"We're thrilled to confirm that Telltale is developing a game based on Stranger Things that we’ll publish to consoles and computers at a later date," a rep for Telltale said.
Telltale is no stranger to creating popular episodic games based around major pop culture brands. Over the years, they've released titles based around everything from Batman to Jurassic Park and The Walking Dead - each proving to be an engaging experience for fans.
Additionally, the video game company will also release another basic interactive game based around the show - Minecraft: Story Mode, which is more akin to a playable TV show.
That title will debut on Netflix this Fall and is similar to Netflix’s other choose-your-own-adventure-style interactive shows for kids like Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout.
