There's a new big bad heading for Central City.
Announced at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, actor Chris Klein has joined the cast of The Flash as the supervillain Cicada ahead of the show's fifth season this October.
In the pages of DC Comics, Cicada was a mysterious cult leader who aimed to murder anybody that The Flash had ever saved, using trademark lightning bolt daggers. The DC TV version is described by Warner Bros. as a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic — one metahuman at a time.
Season 5 of The Flash will see Barry and Iris attempting to help their mysterious daughter - who also happens to be a speedster from the future.
Klein is the latest addition to an ever expanding cast that will also include new series regulars Hartley Sawyer as the goofy Elongated Man, and Danielle Nicolet as Cecil Horton.
Starring Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, and Jessica Parker Kennedy, The Flash returns October 9th.
