Review: Dark Horse Comics - StarCraft: Scavengers #1

Get ready for the job of a lifetime!

Jody Houser and Gabriel Guzman present StarCraft: Scavengers #1, an exciting new look into the ever expansive universe of hit Blizzard Entertainment titles.

Fueled by the promise of untold fortune, a crew of terran scavengers attempt to pull off the job of a lifetime by pillaging a derelict protoss ship. While there are countless dangers that could await them, there are also many secrets contained within its damaged haul - secrets in the form of weapons, technology and even energy sources that could be worth a small fortune.

However, unbeknownst to the majority of the crew, there are some plans afoot that only a few members are privy to - plans that could turn the tide in favor of the terrans in their war against the vile alien swarms hunting and plaguing their people. That is, of course, if the crew can survive this mission and get back home before the alien craft burns up within the blackness of space.

That and get past the mysterious creatures lurking in the shadows!

The debut issue of StarCraft: Scavengers is a tense, white-knuckle deep space thriller of the finest kind! It's claustrophobic and mysterious as Jody Houser takes readers on a thrilling journey that sees a down and out crew racing against the clock to make a big score.

In addition, the illustrations of Gabriel Guzman perfectly capture the dank and dirty surroundings of the derelict protoss ship, plus the tense physicality and expressions of each member of the scavenging crew entering the unknown! The end result is an extremely pleasing and engaging issue you won't be able to put down! Even if you've never played StarCraft in your life!

Rating: 5/5 - "A tense, white-knuckle deep space thriller of the finest kind!"
