Review: DC Comics - Batman Beyond #22

Gotham Has Gone Mad.

It seems that no matter where he goes, everyone wants Batman dead. Terrified of their city's sworn protector, the populace violently attack Terry without letup.

Meanwhile, back at the Batcave, Bruce presents Matt with a new costume and assures Robin into the field to help Batman once again - just as an old friend arrives to inquire of an old case that saw Bruce taking down a group of two bit drug dealers back in the day.

Meanwhile, back out in the field, Terry is more than relieved to have some backup arrive to help him out of his predicament. And so, Batman and Robin team up once more in an effort to subdue the rioters - unaware of the frightful foe lurking in the shadows controlling the people through fear.

But that's not all that this exciting issue has to offer as both Bruce Wayne and television reporter Jack Ryder will be forced to delve twenty years into the past to look for a missing journalist. And, when the duo discover exactly who she is, it'll change this mystery for good!

Batman Beyond #22 is a fantastical and futuristic fairy tale that fans of the original animated series are certain to get hooked on!

Dan Jurgens' narrative is all kinds of fun, and the addition of classic characters spread throughout is just the cherry on top of this already delicious sundae! Meanwhile, we can't get enough of Will Conrad's stunning art! It is bold and vibrant, perfectly capturing the look of New Gotham that fans left behind in animated form all those years ago.

In fact, Conrad's art is so on point on this series that we find it near impossible to read any of the included dialogue without hearing all those classic voices from the original animated series - and that's a very good thing indeed!

In short, Batman Beyond #22 is another solid addition to an already impressive title!

Feeling as though you're returning home from a long trip, the book is filled with enough chills and thrills to keep fans new and old alike happy and satisfied from beginning to end.

Rating: 5/5 - "A fantastical futuristic fairy tale that fans of the original animated series are certain to get hooked on!"
