ABC has given a production commitment to a new series set to feature Marvel Superheroines.
The project hails from Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg. He will executive produce along with Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, with Marvel TV and ABC Studios producing. Heinberg is working on the series under his overall deal with ABC Studios.
Exact details regarding the series are being kept under wraps for the time being, and it is currently unknown which famed female heroes will feature on the show.
Should the project move forward, it would be the latest Marvel project to air on the station. In 2013, ABC launched Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was renewed for a sixth season back in May. The network also previously aired the Marvel spinoffs Agent Carter and Inhumans.
There has been much speculation about whether or not any other Marvel shows would land at ABC, given the fact that Disney is preparing to launch its own streaming service next year.
The multimedia juggernaut is preparing new limited series that would focus on characters featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Loki and Scarlet Witch.
Marvel also has five titles on Netflix including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher. They also debuted the team-up series Defenders last summer, and have a new series on Freeform in the form of Cloak & Dagger.
Expect more details in the coming months!
